Adeleke Is Political Orphan Struggling to Join APC, Alleges Omisore

Former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has described Osun State Governor, Ademola, Adeleke, as a “political orphan” who is desperately seeking entry into the APC.

Omisore made the remarks on Wednesday during an appearance on Politics Today, a political programme aired on Channels Television.

According to him, Adeleke is currently struggling to secure political relevance and has been lobbying for acceptance into the APC despite being the incumbent governor under the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

“Adeleke is a political orphan. He is struggling and begging to join the APC,” Omisore said during the live broadcast.

His comments come amid widespread rumours and reports that Governor Adeleke is making covert moves to defect from the PDP to the ruling APC in Osun State. The speculation has stirred controversy within political circles, especially as some APC leaders, including Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Gboyega Oyetola, have reportedly opposed Adeleke’s possible defection.

Omisore, who was once a PDP chieftain before moving to the APC, accused Adeleke of lacking political ideology or consistent loyalty. He suggested that the governor’s alleged overtures to the APC are not motivated by shared principles but by desperation to secure political survival.

This development comes against the backdrop of increasing political tension in Osun, as stakeholders position themselves ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Adeleke, who defeated Oyetola in 2022 under the PDP platform, has faced criticism over his administration’s handling of local government elections and other policy decisions.

Omisore’s comments have added fuel to the already heated political atmosphere in the state, further deepening the cracks between Osun’s major political actors.
