2025 Emmy Awards: Severance Leads Nominations as Television Academy Announces Ceremony Date

The Television Academy has announced the nominees for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, with Apple TV+ drama Severance topping the list with 27 nominations.

The official ceremony is scheduled for September 14, 2025, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast live on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.

The nominations were unveiled on July 15, 2025, during a virtual event hosted by actors Harvey Guillén and Brenda Song.

The announcement recognized the year’s best in television, reaffirming the dominance of streaming platforms in the industry’s most prestigious awards.

Following Severance, comedy series The Studio earned 23 nominations, while Netflix’s breakout show Adolescence secured 13 nominations, marking one of the most talked-about entries in the race.

In the acting categories, Kathy Bates made history as the oldest-ever nominee for Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Other top nominees include Bella Ramsey, Colman Domingo, Seth Rogen, and Harrison Ford. In the variety and music segments, Kendrick Lamar, Beyoncé, Jay‑Z, and Questlove received nods for live specials and music direction.

The Creative Arts Emmys, which honor technical achievements and behind-the-scenes categories like editing, costumes, and sound, will take place on September 6 and 7, 2025, a week before the main event.

This year’s Primetime Emmy Awards will be hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze, and the ceremony is expected to attract some of the biggest names in television. The event will feature live performances, red carpet moments, and the crowning of the year’s top shows and talents.
