Radda Overcome by Emotions, Tearful at Buhari’s Funeral

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, was visibly overcome with emotion and shed tears during the funeral rites of former President Muhammadu Buhari, held in his hometown of Daura on Tuesday.

Governor Radda, a close political associate of the late president and a fellow native of Katsina State, was seen wiping away tears as prayers were offered and Buhari’s body was laid to rest according to Islamic rites.

His emotional display highlighted the deep bond shared with the former president and the profound impact Buhari’s death has had on the state and the nation.

Buhari, who passed away at the age of 82 in a London clinic on Sunday, July 13, was buried amid tight security and a large gathering of mourners, including top government officials, traditional rulers, and dignitaries from across Nigeria.

In a tribute before the burial, Governor Radda described the late military Head of State and two-term civilian president as “a pillar of integrity and a father figure to many.”

“President Buhari was more than a statesman. He was a mentor, a guide, and a shining example of leadership for our generation. Katsina, and indeed Nigeria, has lost one of its finest,” Radda said.

The funeral, which took place at the late president’s residence in Daura, was attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors from various states, federal ministers, former heads of state, and other dignitaries.

The ceremony was marked by solemnity, prayers, and deep reflection.

The late President Muhammadu Buhari served Nigeria in various capacities for over five decades and remains a towering figure in the nation’s history. His burial marks the end of a significant chapter in Nigeria’s political evolution.
