Peter Obi’s Departure from ADC May Jeopardize His Political Future, Say Party Youths

A youth faction within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has cautioned that Peter Obi’s intention to withdraw from the ADC coalition, should he fail to secure the party’s presidential nomination, might jeopardize his political future.

A communiqué released on Tuesday, bearing the signature of Comrade Abayomi Bello of the ADC Youth Vanguard, expressed that if rumors regarding Obi’s potential departure hold the truth, it would be an ill-advised decision.

“We question whether Mr. Tanko truly possesses Peter Obi’s authorization to make such declarations,” the group asserted.

“We hold the conviction that Mr. Obi has cultivated a robust reputation as a leader committed to principles, youth empowerment, and prioritizing the nation’s welfare.”

They asserted that abandoning the coalition for personal ambition would contradict the very ideals Obi embodies.

The group further reminded Nigerians of Peter Obi’s history of transitioning between political parties, noting his movements from APGA to PDP to the Labour Party, and that leaving ADC now might cause perceptions of him as merely another self-serving politician.

They emphasized that successful coalitions necessitate patience, collaboration, and sacrifice.

“If Mr. Obi departs from the ADC coalition prematurely, he risks forfeiting the trust of his supporters, undermining alliances, and disheartening young Nigerians who already feel disillusioned by fragmented opposition,” the statement continued.

Rather than departing, the group urged Obi to remain and lead from within.

“He ought to mentor emerging leaders, influence the party’s trajectory, and construct a lasting legacy. This is the path to genuine political immortality. Any alternative could result in political marginalization,” the group cautioned.
