Omorinsola Babajide Joins AS Roma, Now Second Nigerian at Serie A Club

Super Falcons forward, Omorinsola Babajide has signed a two-year contract with Italian Serie A Women’s club, AS Roma, marking a new chapter in her professional career.
The 26-year-old attacker joined the Giallorosse as a free agent following her departure from UD Tenerife in May after her contract expired.
AS Roma announced the deal via its official website on Monday, confirming Babajide’s addition to the squad ahead of the new season.
Reacting to the move on her official X (formerly Twitter) account, the former Liverpool and Real Betis winger expressed her excitement and gratitude.
“Happy to finally announce that I’ve signed for @ASRomaFemminile. I’m so excited to see what we can achieve together… Grateful to God for guiding me through every step of this journey. My heart is full, especially having my mum beside me along the way,” she wrote.
Babajide now becomes the second Nigerian player in the AS Roma women’s team, joining compatriot Shukurat Oladipo.
She will officially link up with her new teammates after the ongoing 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, where she is currently representing Nigeria.
The versatile forward has been handed the No. 30 jersey at her new club as she sets her sights on making an impact in Italian football.
