Katsina Governor Leads Tributes Ahead of Buhari’s Burial in Daura
As the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari are expected to arrive in Katsina on Tuesday for burial, the state government has commenced final preparations to honour the late Nigerian leader with a dignified farewell.
On Monday, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda paid solemn visits to the Emir of Daura, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, and the family of the deceased president, offering heartfelt condolences on behalf of the government and people of Katsina State.
During his stop at the Daura Emir’s palace, Governor Radda praised the late Buhari’s life of service, describing him as “a patriot whose legacy will endure across generations.” He noted the profound loss felt not just by the people of Daura, but by the entire nation.
The governor then proceeded to Buhari’s private residence in Daura, where he met with grieving family members and close associates. There, he inspected ongoing arrangements in preparation for the late leader’s burial on Tuesday.
“We are fully committed to giving our former president a befitting burial that reflects his service, humility, and contribution to Nigeria’s growth,” Radda said during the visit.
He was accompanied by a high-profile delegation, including Katsina State Deputy Governor Faruq Lawal Jobe, former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, former Chief of Staff to President Buhari, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika.
Also present were Alhaji Musa Haro, District Head of Dumurkul, alongside top government officials and close relatives of the late statesman.
The burial is expected to draw dignitaries from across the country, as Daura prepares to receive the body of its most famous son for his final journey.
