Arsenal Target Eberechi Eze to Solidify its Midfield

Arsenal have intensified their interest in Crystal Palace playmaker, Eberechi Eze as they look to bolster their attacking midfield options ahead of the 2025/2026 Premier League season.

The Gunners, under the guidance of manager Mikel Arteta, are reportedly preparing an approach for the England international, who has emerged as one of the most sought-after talents in the top flight following a standout campaign.

Eze, known for his flair, versatility, and close control, enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 season with Palace, contributing significantly to their Premier League survival and scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final.

His performances have drawn interest from several top clubs including Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United, and Bayern Munich, but Arsenal are understood to be leading the race, with early dialogue already initiated between the club’s technical team and the player’s representatives.

Sources close to the negotiations suggest that Eze is open to the move and is excited by the prospect of joining a club competing consistently for silverware and Champions League football. While personal terms are not expected to be a major hurdle, the deal could hinge on Arsenal’s willingness to meet Eze’s £68 million release clause.

Alternatively, the North London side may attempt to negotiate a structured deal involving installments or potential player swaps to ease the financial burden.

Sporting director Andrea Berta is reportedly spearheading Arsenal’s pursuit, with Arteta keen to add a creative midfielder who can operate both centrally and on the flanks. Eze’s technical ability, eye for goal, and dribbling skills have been highlighted by analysts as ideal for Arteta’s fluid,

possession-based system. The Gunners see Eze as the final piece in an already ambitious transfer window, which has included the arrival of players such as Christian Nørgaard and Martin Zubimendi to reinforce central midfield and Viktor Gyökeres in attack.

Arsenal are aiming to build on last season’s title challenge, which saw them fall just short of Manchester City. With the departure of some fringe players and rotation options, the club is eager to inject new energy and depth into their squad. Eze, at 27, represents a player entering his prime with both experience and upside—qualities Arsenal believe can help tip the balance in their bid for trophies.

As the transfer window progresses, all eyes remain on whether Arsenal will trigger the release clause or reach a breakthrough with Palace, who are reluctant to lose their star man without significant compensation. For now, Eberechi Eze has become one of the headline names in one of the summer’s most watched transfer pursuits, and a potential move to the Emirates could prove transformative for both player and club.
