Osun People Have Not Forgotten Your Evil Records, Adeleke Hits Back at Aregbesola

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has issued a scathing response to former Governor Rauf Aregbesola over comments suggesting that Adeleke would be removed from office in 2026.
In a statement released today through his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke accused Aregbesola of inflicting “inhumane maladministration” on the state during his tenure from 2010 to 2018.
“The empty boast of Mr Aregbesola about 2026 is a symptom of a troubled mind who is haunted by the pains and suffering he inflicted on millions of Osun people through his evil policies and programmes,” the statement read.
Adeleke’s team described Aregbesola’s administration as “the worst in Osun history,” citing legacy issues such as huge state debts, unpaid salaries, uncompleted projects, and mismanaged public funds.
According to the governor, his administration has paid 28 months of the backlog of half salaries allegedly introduced during Aregbesola’s era and has cleared nearly ₦60 billion in pension debt.
“Pensioners and workers generally are not praying for a return to the evil days of a bad administrator who left his state in ruin after eight years,” the statement said.
Adeleke also highlighted his own achievements, claiming his government has outperformed the Aregbesola administration in less than three years without resorting to fresh loans. He cited the construction of over 200 kilometres of roads, rehabilitation of more than 200 schools and health centres, free health insurance for over 30,000 pensioners, and medical interventions for 60,000 residents.
The governor further pointed to the completion of projects at Osun State University, the operationalization of the University of Ilesa, and ongoing infrastructure projects including flyovers and road dualization in Ilesa, Ile-Ife, Osogbo, and Iwo.
Adeleke dismissed Aregbesola’s recent comments as “a blurry vision of another world other than Osun where Governor Adeleke has received accolades and awards for delivering on good governance.”
He concluded by assuring Osun residents that his administration remains committed to people-focused governance, transparency, and financial discipline.
