Zamfara First Lady Empowers 100 Women with Business Grants

The Wife of the Zamfara State Governor, Hurriya Lawal, has disbursed cash grants ranging from N300,000 to N500,000 to 100 women traders across the state as part of efforts to support small businesses and improve household incomes.

The disbursement ceremony took place at the Government House in Gusau, where the First Lady reiterated her commitment to uplifting women through economic empowerment. She emphasized that the initiative aligns with Governor Dauda Lawal’s vision of inclusive development, ensuring no one is left behind.

Mrs. Lawal stated that placing women at the center of economic growth is crucial to rebuilding communities and reviving the state’s economy, which has suffered from years of insecurity and banditry.

According to her, the welfare of women, children, and the vulnerable remains a top priority for the current administration.

“The grant is more than just financial support; it is a message of trust and confidence in the entrepreneurial spirit of Zamfara women,” she said.

The Chairman of Talata Mafara Local Government Area, Yahaya Yari, commended the Governor’s wife for her continuous support to grassroots women, describing her intervention as timely and impactful.

The initiative is expected to boost the recipients’ small-scale businesses, lift families out of poverty, and stimulate grassroots economic recovery in Zamfara State.
