Kwara Police Apprehend Criminals, Recover N11 Million Ransome

The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended suspected criminals, confiscated firearms, and seized over N11 million in ransom money from kidnappings across various regions of the state.   In a briefing with journalists regarding the command's accomplishments in Ilorin, the State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, announced that police operatives, in collaboration with local security groups, successfully apprehended a notorious kidnapping suspect, Idirisu Sariki, in Okuta, Baruten Local Government Area.   The Police Commissioner revealed that Sariki has been implicated in numerous kidnapping incidents in border communities within the state. Security forces secured an AK-47 rifle, 13 rounds of ammunition, and a red Volkswagen Golf car purportedly utilized by the criminal gang during their operations.   The Commissioner further stated that in a separate incident, three women were intercepted at Babanla Motor Park in connection with arms smuggling. An AK-47 rifle and 31 rounds of ammunition were retrieved during their arrest.   In Share, within the Ifelodun Local Government Area, the Commissioner disclosed that two suspects, Suleiman Jamiu and Mumini Mohammed, were apprehended with N11.3 million, believed to be proceeds from kidnapping activities.   Ojo reported that another group of three men, including Mohammed Olaiya Dende and Mohammed Dende, were arrested in relation to the kidnappings on May 30 and June 1 in Oro Town.   He stated that the suspects would face charges of conspiracy, kidnapping, and culpable homicide following attacks on a cashew factory and a residential community, which resulted in one fatality and six abductions.   The Police Commissioner also mentioned that six suspects were detained for their involvement in the kidnapping of Alhaji Abbass and Abubakar Issa in Lafiagi. Two firearms were recovered during the investigations.   He assured the residents that security operations would be intensified to ensure peace and safety throughout the state.
