Kaduna Police Arrest 10 Armed Robbery Suspects, Bust Illegal Gun Fabrication Ring

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected armed robbers and four illegal firearms manufacturers in a statewide security operation aimed at dismantling violent criminal networks.

The arrests, which took place between July 4th and July 13th, 2025, were announced by the police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, during a press briefing in Kaduna. The operation, according to the police, targeted notorious robbery gangs and illegal arms producers operating across various parts of the state.

As part of the crackdown, the police recovered eight locally fabricated firearms, 16 live cartridges, three stolen vehicles, and one motorcycle. Several of the arrests were linked to recent robbery incidents that had terrorized residents.

One of the suspects, identified as Nura Auwal, was apprehended after allegedly attacking a commercial motorcyclist, Ismail Bello, in Kaduna South. Auwal reportedly stabbed the victim before fleeing with his motorcycle, which was later recovered by law enforcement officers.

In another major breakthrough, police operatives arrested two suspected tricycle thieves, Sanusi Bala of Zamfara State and Nura Bala of Zaria, along Kano Road in Kaduna. The suspects, believed to be part of a larger syndicate specializing in the theft and resale of tricycles and vehicles, were found with three stolen Golf III Wagons a dark blue vehicle with plate number ABC-152-AL, a green one marked ABJ-900-RE, and an unregistered unit.

The police also uncovered an illegal gun fabrication ring during the raids. Four suspects were arrested in connection with the clandestine production of local firearms and ammunition. Their arrest follows ongoing efforts to clamp down on the spread of illegal weapons contributing to rising crime in the region.

Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu commended the swift actions of his officers and reiterated the command’s commitment to combating violent crime and illegal arms proliferation in the state. He urged residents to continue cooperating with the police by sharing credible information to aid in security operations.

DSP Mansir Hassan confirmed that all 14 suspects are currently in police custody and will face prosecution upon completion of investigations. He added that the police remain determined to sustain the momentum against armed robbery, illegal arms production, and other criminal activities threatening the peace of Kaduna State.
