Former President Muhammadu Buhari Dies in London Hospital

Former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has passed away this afternoon at a private Hospital in London, his family has confirmed.
The late president, who served from 2015 to 2023, had long battled undisclosed health challenges throughout his tenure. His frequent medical trips abroad, particularly to the United Kingdom, often sparked national debate given his role as the country’s top public official.
Buhari notably spent over 100 days in London in 2017 for treatment of an undisclosed illness, shortly after assuming office in 2015. He also undertook similar medical visits in 2018 and again in 2021.
Sources close to the family said the former president had been admitted to intensive care in the early stages of his most recent hospitalization.
The family has requested prayers for the repose of his soul, saying: “May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin.”
