APC Dominates Lagos LG Polls, Wins All Chairmanship Seats, 375 of 376 Councillorship Positions in Sweeping Victory
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has achieved a sweeping victory in the just-concluded local government elections held on Saturday across Lagos State, securing all 20 local government chairmanship positions and 375 out of 376 available councillorship seats.
The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), which announced the results on Sunday, confirmed that the only councillorship seat not won by the APC was in Ward D of Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) emerged victorious.
Over seven million registered voters were eligible to cast their ballots in the elections, which were conducted across 13,325 polling units in the state’s 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
A total of 15 political parties out of the 19 officially registered with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) participated in the election, according to LASIEC.
With this resounding victory, the APC has reaffirmed its dominance over Lagos State’s grassroots political landscape, solidifying its influence ahead of future electoral contests.
