Makinde Pledges Loyalty to PDP, Says not Swayed by Coalition

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring that he won’t be swayed by emerging coalitions seeking to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
Makinde made this declaration at the Southwest PDP caucus meeting in Ibadan, emphasizing the party’s unity and dominance in the Southwest.
Makinde questioned the credibility of the coalition members, highlighting their history of switching parties. He used a building analogy to emphasize his commitment to the party, stating that if the party has issues, they will fix it rather than abandon it.
The governor also criticized the Federal Government’s withholding of local government funds in Osun State, calling it unconstitutional and harmful to the people. Osun State Deputy Governor, Kola Adewusi, reaffirmed Governor Ademola Adeleke’s total allegiance to the PDP, dismissing rumors linking him to coalitions.
The PDP praised the contributions of Governors Makinde and Adeleke for sustaining the party’s structure and influence in the zone. The party distanced itself from any coalition arrangements, urging members to remain focused on rebuilding the PDP.
The PDP expressed readiness to work with like-minded Nigerians to rescue the country from APC’s alleged misrule and outlined plans to ensure victory in upcoming bye-elections in Oyo and Ogun States, as well as local government elections in Lagos.
The party concluded with a rallying call to Nigerians to stay hopeful and rally around the PDP in the face of growing economic hardship and insecurity under the APC-led government.
