Tottenham Seal Mohammed Kudus Signing, Close in on Morgan Gibbs-White in £115m Double Transfer Swoop

Tottenham Hotspur have made a major statement in the summer transfer window, confirming the signing of Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United and moving decisively to secure Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest in a high-profile double swoop worth over £115 million.

The North London club is making significant moves under new manager Thomas Frank, signaling its intention to build a competitive squad for the upcoming Premier League and Champions League campaigns.

Tottenham announced on Wednesday the official acquisition of Mohammed Kudus, who joins from West Ham on a six-year deal reportedly worth £55 million, with additional performance-based clauses.

Kudus, 23, impressed during his time at West Ham following his move from Ajax in 2023. Known for his versatility, he can operate both as an attacking midfielder and on the flanks. Last season, he recorded 13 goals and 9 assists across competitions, cementing his reputation as one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Premier League.

Spurs’ move to sign Kudus is also notable as it marks the first major transfer between the North London side and West Ham in over a decade—a sign of the urgency and ambition driving the club’s current project.

“Kudus brings creativity, directness, and goal threat to our midfield and attack. He’s the kind of player who can change the tempo of a match in an instant,” one Tottenham insider remarked.

In addition to Kudus, Tottenham have triggered the £60 million release clause of Morgan Gibbs-White, the highly-rated midfielder from Nottingham Forest. The 25-year-old is set to undergo a medical in the coming days, with personal terms reportedly agreed.

Gibbs-White was instrumental in Forest’s campaign last season, scoring 7 goals and contributing several assists as the club secured European qualification. His technical skill, work rate, and playmaking ability made him one of Forest’s standout players and attracted attention from several top clubs, including Manchester City. However, Tottenham acted swiftly to secure the deal.

His arrival is expected to add depth and energy to Spurs’ midfield, offering Thomas Frank the option of deploying a dynamic attacking trio behind the striker or reinforcing central creativity in tight matches.

The double swoop—totaling over £115 million—marks a pivotal phase in Tottenham’s summer rebuild. With Champions League football returning to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, the club’s board appears committed to backing Frank with the signings needed to compete at the top level.

Kudus and Gibbs-White join a growing list of summer reinforcements, including Mathys Tel, Kevin Danso, and Kota Takai. Reports also suggest that Spurs remain in the market for more signings, with Yoane Wissa and others linked.

This level of transfer activity underscores Tottenham’s goal of not just securing top-four status, but genuinely challenging for silverware at home and in Europe.

Fans have reacted enthusiastically to the Kudus announcement, calling it a coup given the player’s reputation and his direct involvement in goals. Analysts also see Gibbs-White as a smart acquisition, noting his ability to play across multiple midfield and forward positions.

Football pundit Jamie Carragher commented, “This is a bold window for Tottenham. Kudus and Gibbs-White are players with flair and hunger—just what Spurs need if they’re serious about rejoining the elite.”

With both signings either confirmed or imminent, attention now turns to outgoings. Tottenham are expected to offload several fringe players to balance the books and create room in the squad. Nevertheless, the club’s early window business sends a clear signal: Tottenham are back, and they mean business.

As the 2025/26 season approaches, the North London side is shaping up to be one of the teams to watch—on and off the pitch.
