Sokoto Assembly Hails Governor Aliyu’s Inclusive Leadership Style

The Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga, has commended Governor Ahmad Aliyu for his collaborative and inclusive approach to governance, describing it as a key driver of harmony and development in the state.

Speaking during an interview with journalists in Sokoto, Bodinga assessed the performance of the House over the past two years and highlighted the cordial relationship between the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary under the current administration.

According to the Speaker, Governor Aliyu’s leadership style, marked by consistent consultation with the Assembly and mutual respect, has strengthened governance in Sokoto State.

“In spite of the enormous powers at his disposal, Governor Aliyu has never acted unilaterally. He treats the Assembly as partners in the Sokoto project and engages with us on major policy decisions,” Bodinga stated.

He emphasized that the synergy among the three arms of government executive, legislative, and judiciary though distinct in their constitutional functions, has been enhanced under Governor Aliyu’s administration.

“While our interactions with the judiciary are more limited due to its independent role, we enjoy mutual respect across all branches,” he noted.

Bodinga credited the Governor for fostering a political environment rooted in inclusiveness and collaboration, which has enabled the Assembly to effectively carry out its responsibilities in lawmaking, representation, and oversight.

“We take our oversight mandate seriously. It is a sacred duty to monitor the executive’s actions and ensure they align with the interests of the people,” he said, praising his fellow lawmakers for their diligence and commitment to accountability.

The Speaker also spoke about the Assembly’s efforts to remain connected with the citizens, noting that public input is routinely sought on legislative matters. “We listen to the people’s concerns and include them in our legislative process. This participatory model has strengthened our covenant with the people,” he added.

Bodinga affirmed that the Sokoto State House of Assembly remains a pillar of integrity and service, maintaining its alignment with the aspirations of the people and supporting policies that promote the state’s progress.

“The partnership between the Governor’s consultative leadership and our vigilant oversight has been instrumental in the success of the Sokoto State project,” he concluded.
