ADC Coalition Gains Ground as Entire PDP Structure Defects in Gombe

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has recorded a major breakthrough in Gombe State as the entire structure of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) officially defected to its fold.

The move, which marks a significant shift in the political landscape of the North-East state, includes top PDP executives, local government officials, and grassroots mobilizers who have pledged allegiance to the ADC.

In a symbolic move that underscores the depth of the defection, the former PDP state secretariat in Gombe has been converted into the new ADC headquarters in the state.

Speaking at the formal declaration ceremony, a spokesperson for the defectors described the decision as a response to what they called “deep disillusionment” with the PDP’s leadership and direction.

“We can no longer continue under a system that has lost touch with the people.

The ADC presents a new, credible alternative one that listens to the grassroots and is driven by ideas, not power struggles,” he said.

The defection is being hailed as a massive boost for the ADC Coalition, which has been gaining traction nationally through its targeted engagements, youth-focused programs, and emphasis on transparent leadership.

Reacting to the development, a national leader of the ADC praised the Gombe defection as a defining moment for the party’s growth in the region.

“This is a huge win for the ADC Coalition. An entire party structure crossing over reflects the confidence Nigerians are beginning to place in our movement. We are not just welcoming new members; we are building a stronger force for the future of democracy in Nigeria.”

The development is expected to reshape political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as the ADC positions itself as a credible third force capable of challenging the dominance of the two major parties.

Political observers say the defection could serve as a catalyst for similar moves in other states, particularly in the northern region where the ADC has been strengthening its grassroots mobilization strategy.
