Shehu Sani Criticizes Politicians’ Unending Rescue Promises

Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has commented on Nigeria’s political rhetoric, suggesting that politicians across various parties have consistently promised to “rescue” the country from one another since the return to democracy in 1999.
In a post shared via his verified X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday, July 6, 2025, Sani stated:
“From 1999 to date, all politicians want to RESCUE NIGERIA from fellow politicians.”
The remark comes amid renewed campaigns and public statements from political parties such as the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which has positioned itself as an alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The ADC and similar parties have frequently criticized the country’s leadership while presenting themselves as reformist options.
However, Sani’s comment appears to underscore a broader pattern where politicians, regardless of affiliation, pledge to correct the same systemic issues attributed to their predecessors.
Shehu Sani, known for his activism and commentary on governance, often uses social media to share critical perspectives on Nigeria’s political developments.
