Rivers APC Upbraids Wike for Dragging Amaechi’s Wife Into Politics Over NDDC Allegations

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) loyal to former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has strongly condemned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for involving Dame Judith Amaechi, wife of the former governor, in his ongoing political feud.

Wike, during a live television interview on Friday, alleged that Judith Amaechi received a staggering ₦48 billion from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) under the guise of training women in the region.

He further claimed that the former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, helped to shield her from accountability.

Reacting on Saturday, the APC faction, through its spokesperson, Darlington Nwauju, dismissed Wike’s remarks as baseless and an attempt to divert public attention from his own questionable records in office.

Nwauju challenged Wike to publicly release the long-awaited forensic audit report of the NDDC if he was confident in his accusations.

“We empathise with Nigerians who have been entertained twice in 48 hours with a cocktail of lies, half-truths, and Wike’s usual double-speak,” Nwauju said.

The declaration by the FCT Minister that he will resign if Dame Judith Amaechi is not indicted by the audit report is not only theatrical but a sign of desperation.”

The APC spokesman also accused Wike of showing a deep disregard for family values and womanhood, by repeatedly targeting the wives of political opponents.

“This shameful habit of dragging people’s spouses into political mudslinging is unbecoming of a public servant and speaks volumes about Wike’s disrespect for women, including his own wife,” Nwauju stated.

The latest clash adds to the long-standing rivalry between Amaechi and Wike, both of whom have dominated Rivers State politics for over a decade, but now sit on opposing sides of Nigeria’s power divide.

As tensions escalate within the state’s political space, stakeholders continue to call for a more issue-based discourse and a halt to personal attacks.
