Governor Otu Hails Tinubu’s Leadership Capacity, Says President Can Overcome Nigeria’s Challenges
The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, has expressed strong confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ability to tackle Nigeria’s current economic and political challenges, describing his leadership as one that is already making significant impact on national stability and progress.
Governor Otu made this known during the South-South All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders meeting held in Benin City, the Edo State capital, where political leaders and party members gathered to evaluate the administration’s performance and the future direction of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In his remarks, Otu stated that President Tinubu has demonstrated exceptional political will and reform-minded governance since assuming office, leading key policy decisions that are restoring investor confidence and strengthening national institutions.
He noted that President Tinubu’s reforms are not only bold but strategic, citing the removal of fuel subsidy, unification of the foreign exchange system, and renewed focus on infrastructural development as indicators of responsible and visionary leadership. Otu said the recent report by the National Bureau of Statistics indicating a $13.17 billion trade surplus is proof that the economic policies of the Tinubu administration are beginning to yield positive results.
He also highlighted key programmes of the Renewed Hope Agenda, such as the student loan initiative, tariff waivers on food imports, expanded agricultural support, access to consumer credit, and the passage of the Tax Reform Act as steps that reflect the administration’s commitment to long-term national development.
Otu stated that Cross River State, which had previously felt sidelined, is now benefiting significantly from aligning with the APC-led Federal Government. He cited major federal projects such as the Bakassi Deep Seaport, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, and the establishment of Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones as developments transforming the state’s economic landscape.
The governor predicted that President Tinubu would secure more than 90 percent of votes in Cross River during the 2027 presidential election due to the growing trust and support his administration enjoys across the state. He urged party members and regional stakeholders to remain united and mobilize support across all levels to ensure the continuity of Tinubu’s government beyond 2027.
He described the president as a courageous leader who has shown consistency of character and excellence in governance, despite the difficult decisions required to reposition the country.
The South-South APC meeting ended with a renewed commitment by party stakeholders to continue supporting President Tinubu and to consolidate the party’s influence in the region ahead of the next general elections.
