FG Building Resilient Healthcare Ecosystem, Says Pate

The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare system to ensure resilience, accessibility, and sustainability.

Speaking during a stakeholders’ engagement forum in Abuja on Friday, Professor Pate emphasized that the current administration under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is prioritizing health reforms that will address long-standing structural weaknesses in the sector.

He noted that a resilient healthcare ecosystem is essential for national development, particularly in responding to disease outbreaks and improving service delivery across the country.

“The government is investing in primary healthcare, human resource development, and infrastructure upgrades to ensure Nigerians can access quality care regardless of their location,” the Minister stated.

Professor Pate added that efforts are underway to scale up the National Health Insurance Scheme, improve regulatory frameworks, and strengthen collaboration with development partners. He noted that enhancing the supply chain for essential medicines, digitalizing health data, and deploying community-based strategies are part of a broader reform agenda aimed at making healthcare more responsive and equitable.

The Minister called on state governments, private sector stakeholders, and health professionals to support the federal initiatives, stressing that building a resilient system requires joint ownership and coordinated implementation.

Health experts at the forum commended the renewed focus on system-wide reform and urged continued transparency and accountability in implementation to ensure lasting impact.

The initiative is part of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which places health at the center of Nigeria’s socio-economic transformation.
