Customs Repudiates CBT Test for Recruitment, Says it’s False

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has dismissed a widely circulated social media announcement claiming that a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for its ongoing recruitment exercise is scheduled to hold in July 2025.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the National Public Relations Officer of the Service, Assistant Comptroller Abdullahi Maiwada, labelled the viral press release as “fraudulent and misleading,” warning the public to disregard the false information.

“The attention of the Nigeria Customs Service has been drawn to a fake press release currently circulating on social media and other messaging platforms, falsely announcing the shortlist for a Computer-Based Test (CBT),” the statement read.

Maiwada pointed out that the document did not originate from the Service and contained multiple signs of forgery, including irregular formatting and an unauthorised e-signature.

“It is clear that the fake statement contains several discrepancies, particularly in its formatting. The e-signature format differs from our official standard and the recruitment timeline mentioned shows a faulty structure that is not connected to any legitimate process,” he added.

The NCS urged the public to rely solely on its official website, verified social media handles, and national newspapers for accurate information regarding recruitment and other activities.

“Authentic information about NCS activities, including its ongoing recruitment exercises, will be published only on our official platforms,” the Service stated.
Maiwada further revealed that the NCS is actively investigating the source of the misinformation and will take appropriate legal action against those found responsible.

“The Service is taking steps to trace the origin of this false information and will take appropriate action to hold those responsible accountable,” he assured.

The Nigeria Customs Service expressed appreciation to the public for their vigilance and reiterated its commitment to transparency and integrity in its operations.

“We reaffirm our commitment to protecting the public from misinformation, ensuring all our processes uphold the highest standards of transparency and integrity,” the statement concluded.
