No More Empty Promises, Declares Tinubu as Rehabilitated Gwagwalada Road is Commissioned

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has declared that the era of empty promises and abandoned projects is over under his administration, reaffirming his government’s commitment to inclusive development and infrastructure renewal across the country.

The President made this assertion on Friday during the official commissioning of the newly rehabilitated Aguma Palace Radio Nigeria New Market Road in Gwagwalada, Abuja. The project was executed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Administration under the leadership of Minister Nyesom Wike.

Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima, who represented him at the event, Tinubu emphasized that development must no longer be treated as a privilege for a few, but as a right of all Nigerians, regardless of location or class.

“This road is more than just asphalt and concrete,” Shettima said. “It is a corridor of dignity for the market women, a path to safety for our children heading to school, and a gateway to prosperity for every hard-working trader and resident of this community.”

The president noted that the commissioning of the road reflects the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, focused on accountability, delivery, and nation-building.

The Aguma Palace–Radio Nigeria–New Market Road, a previously dilapidated and neglected route, now boasts improved drainage systems, pedestrian walkways, and better traffic flow, enhancing the quality of life and economic activities in the area.

Minister Wike, in his remarks, reiterated the FCT Administration’s determination to fast-track the completion of key infrastructure across Abuja. He credited the success of the project to President Tinubu’s support and the administration’s political will.

Residents and local business owners expressed gratitude for the project, noting the relief it brings to daily commuting and commercial activities. “We used to suffer a lot on this road, especially during the rainy season. Today, we’re happy to witness a true change,” a trader at the New Market said.

President Tinubu concluded his message with a strong warning to contractors and public officials: “There shall be no room for excuses or abandonment. Every promise made shall be fulfilled. The era of broken trust is gone.”

The commissioning signals a renewed push for infrastructure across Nigeria’s capital, as the administration continues to roll out its development roadmap.
