Price of Cooking Gas Spikes Across Country 

Nigeria’s average cost for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) increased by 2.18 percent on a month-to-month basis, reaching N20,709.11 in May 2025, up from N20,268.06 in April.

 

This information was divulged by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) in its LPG Price Watch data for May 2025, published on Wednesday.

 

The data revealed that Delta, Abia, and Ebonyi states registered the highest prices for refilling a 12.5kg cylinder of cooking gas, at N23,356.56, N22,953.01, and N22,943.30, respectively.

 

Conversely, the NBS data indicated that Yobe, Lagos, and Kebbi states had the most economical prices for refilling, at N18,500, N18,536, and N18,606.60, respectively.

 

Furthermore, on a year-on-year basis, the LPG price surged by 32 percent compared to the N15,627.40 needed to refill a 12.5kg cylinder in May 2024.

 

The NBS has yet to release its LPG Price Watch for June 2025.
