Trump, Musk Spat Worsens, Leading to Call for New Party by Tech Giant

Tech magnate Elon Musk has intensified his censure of United States President Donald Trump’s tax reductions and expenditure legislation, while reiterating his advocacy for the establishment of a new political party.
Musk’s denunciation of Trump’s extensive 940-page “Big, Beautiful Bill,” which proposes tax concessions and substantial reductions to healthcare and nutrition programs, has elicited robust criticism from the Democratic Party as well as dissent from certain members within Trump’s Republican Party.
In early June, Musk, a notable campaign benefactor to Trump and a former pivotal advisor, condemned the bill as a “repulsive abomination,” precipitating a public rift with the Republican leader.
Subsequently, the two seemed to ease tensions, with Trump expressing goodwill towards Musk, while Musk conveyed remorse on X, acknowledging he had “overstepped.”
However, as U.S. Senators convened to deliberate on amendments to the bill on Monday, Musk escalated his reproach once more, declaring that legislators who had advocated for spending cuts yet supported the bill “should bow their heads in disgrace!”
He further vowed, “They will be defeated in their primaries next year if it is the last endeavor I undertake on this Earth.”
Trump retorted on Tuesday, asserting that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) – previously under Musk’s leadership – should scrutinize the subsidies awarded to Musk’s enterprises, in a bid to conserve “substantial” federal funds.
