Tread Cautiously Towards 2027,Dele Momodu Warns Akpabio

Veteran journalist and prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Dele Momodu, has issued a stern warning to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, urging him to tread cautiously ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a Facebook post shared on Tuesday, Momodu suggested that internal crises are imminent within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), declaring that “no one is indispensable” to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In his strongly worded statement, Momodu expressed skepticism about the stability of the APC, referencing President Tinubu’s political history and power style, which he described as intolerant of dissent or competition.
“I knew this day would soon come when katakata would burst within the ruling APC,” Momodu wrote. “Many of our political pundits lack a proper understanding of contemporary history. How could anyone think Tinubu’s Style would ever change after capturing Lagos State unchallenged for 26 years?”
The media mogul cited recent rumors suggesting that Vice President Kashim Shettima may be replaced before the next elections, likening the situation to the political fate of former Lagos State governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
“What is happening to Vice President Shettima today is not new; it happened to several Deputy Governors in Lagos,” he noted. “Governor Ambode was the biggest casualty, and Governor Sanwo-Olu only narrowly escaped recently.”
Turning to the recent resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as the National Chairman of the APC, Momodu described the former Kano State governor as a “tragic hero” whose loyalty to President Tinubu ultimately cost him his political relevance.
“On Abdullahi Ganduje, he’s a tragic hero who took bullets for Tinubu. But, like all lackeys, his usefulness has expired. My friend Akpabio should beware,” he warned.
Momodu’s commentary underscores growing speculation over power struggles within the ruling party, as political players jostle ahead of 2027. He emphasized that the current power structure is built entirely around President Tinubu, and those who assume otherwise do so at their own peril.
“This current power structure is absolutely for Tinubu. No one should deceive themselves—no one is indispensable, and everyone is expendable when it becomes necessary,” he said. “The Prince does not entertain competition. This is the season of Machiavelli. More victims will fall on the battlefield. No one is sacred.”
Momodu’s remarks have sparked fresh debate across political circles, with many interpreting them as a signal of deepening cracks within the APC’s top hierarchy as the 2027 elections draw near.
