Pastor Ndukwe Ogbu Jailed 53 Years for Turning Daughter into Sex Toy

A 45-year-old pastor, Ndukwe Ogbu has been convicted and sentenced to 53 years in prison by the Lagos State Sexual Offences Court in Ikeja on July 1, 2025.

The court delivered its verdict at 10:23 AM WAT, finding Ogbu guilty of defiling and sexually assaulting his 14-year-old daughter through penetration, an act that represents a profound betrayal of trust and a grave violation of familial bonds.

The trial, which drew significant attention, saw the prosecution present a robust case, including eyewitness testimonies, medical evidence, and psychological reports, establishing the charges beyond reasonable doubt.

Justice Olubunmi Abike-Fadipe, handling the proceedings, delivered a stern judgment, condemning Ogbu’s actions and highlighting the devastating impact on the young victim, who is now under the care of social services.

Despite Ogbu’s plea for leniency, citing his responsibilities as a father to other children, the court showed no mercy, emphasizing the need for justice and deterrence in cases of child sexual abuse.

The sentencing has ignited widespread outrage and sparked intense public discourse on the protection of minors, particularly within religious and familial contexts where such crimes are often shrouded in silence.

Community leaders and child rights advocates have praised the court’s decision as a critical step toward accountability, though some reports suggesting a 25-year sentence have caused confusion, indicating that official clarifications may still be pending as the case garners further scrutiny.

This landmark ruling underscores the judiciary’s resolve to tackle sexual offenses with severity, serving as a sobering reminder of the consequences of such atrocities.

As the community grapples with the aftermath, support networks are mobilizing to aid the victim’s recovery, while calls for stricter oversight of religious figures grow louder in the wake of this scandal.
