Uzodimma Swears in 24 Permanent Secretaries, Promises Merit-Driven Civil Service Reform

Governor Hope Uzodimma has sworn in 24 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries, urging them to uphold dignity, integrity, and professionalism in their duties.

The swearing-in ceremony, which took place at the Executive Council Chambers of the Government House in Owerri, marked a significant milestone in the administration’s ongoing public sector reform.

Governor Uzodimma emphasized that the appointments were strictly merit-based, devoid of political interference or favoritism, signaling a renewed commitment to competence and accountability in governance.

“You were selected not because of who you know, but because of what you’ve demonstrated over time. This administration will continue to reward excellence and hard work,” Uzodimma stated, charging the new officials to align with his government’s development goals and ethical expectations.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Chidiebere Okeji expressed profound appreciation to the governor for the trust reposed in them. He assured that the Permanent Secretaries would justify the confidence placed in them by offering diligent service and contributing meaningfully to the state’s progress.

As part of measures to facilitate their effectiveness, each newly sworn-in Permanent Secretary received an official vehicle to aid smooth operations in their various ministries and agencies.

The ceremony is widely seen as a crucial step toward revitalizing the state bureaucracy and enhancing policy implementation in Imo State.
