FCTA Staff Protest Non Payment of Salaries, other Grievances

FCTA staff have begun a protest at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja, citing various grievances.
The workers, represented by the Joint Union Action Committee, are demanding action from the FCT administration.
Their concerns include unpaid salaries and allowances, lack of access to the salary portal, and deductions for national housing funds.
The union president, Mrs. Rifkatu Iortyer, stated that they have been writing letters to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike since 2023, but their efforts have been unsuccessful.
Iortyer gave the administration a three-day ultimatum to address their demands, which include training and retraining of workers, payment of wage awards, and promotion of staff.
If their demands are not met, the workers will take further action. The protest highlights the ongoing challenges faced by FCTA staff and their struggle for resolution.
