2027 Starts Now, Dalori Declares, Assumes Office as APC Acting Chairman

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially appointed its Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, as the Acting National Chairman of the party following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Dalori took over leadership on Monday during a National Working Committee (NWC) meeting held at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Ganduje’s resignation, which became public on Friday, came amid reports of growing pressure from political stakeholders, particularly in the North-West, and internal party realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Though Ganduje cited personal reasons for his exit, party insiders suggest that shifting political calculations influenced the move.

Dalori’s appointment is in line with the APC constitution, which provides that the deputy national chairman from the same zone as the outgoing chairman should assume the role in an acting capacity. Dalori, who hails from Borno State, has previously served as the party’s state chairman and has played a prominent role in national party affairs.

Speaking after his assumption of office, Dalori declared that the APC was now focused on the future, stating, “2027 starts now.”

He emphasized unity and discipline within the party and pledged to work closely with all stakeholders to consolidate the APC’s leadership ahead of the next general elections.

“We will reposition our great party. I will ensure that inclusiveness, transparency, and fairness define our operations.

This is the time to go back to the grassroots, to listen to our members, and to build a party that truly represents the will of the people,” he said.

Dalori also lauded Ganduje for his service, describing his tenure as instrumental in maintaining party stability.

He assured party members that there would be no disruption to ongoing programs and that he would remain committed to the principles of the party.

Reactions across the party have largely been supportive, with many key figures describing Dalori as a bridge-builder capable of steering the APC into the next phase.

Meanwhile, preparations are reportedly underway for the party’s national convention scheduled for December 2025, where a substantive chairman is expected to emerge.

Dalori’s emergence comes at a critical moment for the APC as it works to consolidate power, manage internal disagreements, and prepare for the challenges of the 2027 elections.
