President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Nigerian business titan and elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata, describing his passing as a monumental loss to the nation.

In a statement released by the Presidency on Saturday, June 28, 2025, President Tinubu paid glowing tribute to the late industrialist, hailing his remarkable contributions to Nigeria’s economic growth, philanthropic spirit, and decades-long commitment to national development.

“Alhaji Aminu Dantata was not only an iconic businessman but also a bridge-builder and patriot who invested his wealth and wisdom in uplifting lives and strengthening communities across the country,” the President said.

President Tinubu recalled the late Dantata’s legacy as a pioneer in various sectors of the economy, from oil and gas to construction and banking, as well as his sterling service as the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Development in Kano State during the Yakubu Gowon military administration.

The President noted that Dantata’s name had become synonymous with humility, wisdom, and generosity, values he consistently upheld throughout his life.

“His philanthropic works, particularly in the fields of education, healthcare, and religious development, touched millions. Nigeria has lost a rare gem whose life was defined by service to humanity,” Tinubu stated.

President Tinubu extended his heartfelt condolences to the Dantata family, the government and people of Kano State, and all who were impacted by the late mogul’s life and legacy.

He prayed for the repose of his soul and urged Nigerians to emulate Dantata’s example of selflessness and integrity.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata passed away at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. His burial is expected to take place in Kano in accordance with Islamic rites.
