Makinde Pledges to Deliver Eruwa Road in 11 Months, Apologises for Delay
Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the timely completion of the Eleyele Ido
Eruwa Road, promising that the critical infrastructure will be delivered within the next 11 months.
Speaking on Saturday during the official installation of Oba Samuel Adedayo Adegbola as the new Eleruwa of Eruwa at the Eleruwa Stadium, Sango, Eruwa, in Ibarapa East Local Government Area, Governor Makinde addressed concerns over the slow pace of the road project, which connects major agricultural hubs in the region.
Makinde offered an unreserved apology to the people of Ibarapaland for the delays and assured that his administration will redouble efforts to meet the new timeline.
He emphasised the economic importance of the road, describing it as a critical enabler for agricultural and economic growth in Ibarapa and Oyo State at large.
“Let me, on behalf of myself and the government of Oyo State, apologise to the people of Ibarapaland. We will redouble our efforts. And for the last time, if the Eleyele Ido Eruwa road project is not completed within the next 10 to 11 months, don’t allow me into Eruwa again. It is a promise,” the governor declared.
The governor also responded to the monarch’s request for the swift commencement of the agricultural transformation hub in Eruwa, revealing that documentation for the initiative had been concluded and implementation would begin soon.
Makinde further expressed satisfaction with the peaceful resolution of the royal succession dispute that led to the reinstatement of Oba Adegbola, who was previously dethroned in 2019.
In his acceptance speech, the newly reinstated Eleruwa lauded Governor Makinde for his unwavering commitment to justice and due process.
He pledged to rule with compassion, promote harmony, and work for the socio-economic advancement of Eruwa.
“In the course of my reign, I will work to harness the energy of our youths while listening to the wisdom of our elders,” Oba Adegbola said. “I will strive to achieve a kinder, more civil, more tolerant, more generous, and more compassionate community.”
The event was attended by dignitaries, traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents, who witnessed the governor’s renewed pledge to accelerate development in the Ibarapa zone.
