Wizkid Electrifies Rabat at 20th Mawazine Festival in Morocco

Nigerian music superstar Wizkid delivered a show-stopping performance at the 20th edition of the Mawazine Festival in Rabat, Morocco, thrilling thousands of fans and further cementing his status as a global Afrobeats icon.

The highly anticipated event, held at the iconic OLM Souissi stage in the Moroccan capital, saw the Grammy-winning artist light up the night with a string of chart-topping hits, including “Soco,” “Essence,” “Bad To Me,” and his international collaboration “One Dance.”

His magnetic stage presence and vocal prowess were met with deafening cheers from the crowd, many of whom sang along word for word.

Wizkid’s appearance marked a major highlight of the week-long festival, which ran from June 20 to 28 under the patronage of King Mohammed VI. The Mawazine Festival is widely regarded as one of Africa’s biggest and most prestigious music events, drawing international acts and diverse audiences from across the globe.

Fans took to social media to share electrifying clips and praise the performance, describing it as unforgettable and “worth the wait.” For many, it was a moment of redemption following Wizkid’s earlier cancellation of several North American and European tour dates. His presence in Rabat, however, sent a powerful message about the continuing global rise of Afrobeats and his place at its forefront.

The artist’s participation not only thrilled fans but also underscored the growing international demand for African music and its influence in global pop culture. As the beat of Afrobeats pulses stronger on world stages, Wizkid’s headline performance in Morocco serves as both a celebration of musical excellence and a reminder of Africa’s dynamic creative power.

The 2025 edition of the Mawazine Festival also featured other prominent international and African artists, reinforcing its role as a cultural melting pot and a beacon for cross-continental musical exchange.
