Tinubu Resolves Rivers Political Crisis, Succeeds With Truce, Hailed

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has met with Governor Siminalayi Fubara, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, and key lawmakers from the state, marking what many see as a breakthrough in the prolonged political tensions that have gripped the region, in a significant move to restore political stability in Rivers State,

Segun Showunmi, a political analyst and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), took to social media to commend the president’s intervention.

In a strongly worded post, Showunmi emphasized that leadership is about resolving conflicts rather than inflaming them. He praised President Tinubu’s role in facilitating dialogue and reconciliation among stakeholders in Rivers, hailing it as an example of true leadership.

“This is how to lead! A leader must resolve issues, not make them worse,” Showunmi wrote. He defended the idea of learning from leaders like Tinubu, saying, “There is nothing wrong with studying Asiwaju @officialABAT. After all, we study leaders in other climes. It is a weakness and colonial mentality to think that one of our own cannot be learned.”

He further extended his gratitude to Governor Fubara, Minister Wike, the Speaker, and other lawmakers for participating in the peace process. Referring to the previously fractured relationship between top figures in the state, Showunmi declared that “Team Rivers is Back,” calling on residents and political actors to move forward in unity.

The Channels Television report attached to the post confirmed that the president hosted the meeting at the Aso Rock Villa, where all parties were seen in high spirits, suggesting a new chapter for the embattled state.

Showunmi ended his message with an emphatic call for lasting peace: “Never again!!!!”

The development is being widely viewed as a significant political reset in Rivers State, where tensions between Governor Fubara and Minister Wike had threatened to divide the state’s leadership.
