Super Eagles Striker Paul Onuachu Joins Turkish Club Trabzonspor

Nigerian international forward Paul Onuachu has officially signed with Turkish Süper Lig club Trabzonspor, marking a significant move in his professional football career.

The towering striker, known for his goal-scoring instincts and aerial dominance, joins the Black Sea Storm after a spell in the English Premier League with Southampton. His switch to Turkey is seen as a strategic step to regain top form and secure more regular playing time ahead of major national team commitments.

Trabzonspor confirmed the acquisition on Thursday, expressing confidence in Onuachu’s ability to strengthen their attacking lineup as they prepare for the 2025/2026 season. The move is expected to boost the club’s domestic campaign and deepen their squad depth for European competitions.

Onuachu, 30, rose to prominence during his prolific stint with Belgian side Genk, where he was once the league’s top scorer and Player of the Year. His career has since seen highs and lows, but fans and analysts believe the Turkish league could offer the stability and competitive edge he needs to reignite his form.

Reactions from Nigerian football enthusiasts have been largely positive, with many hoping the transfer will serve as a springboard for his return to the Super Eagles’ starting XI.
