Wike Triumphs as PDP Reinstates Anyanwu as National Secretary

The party’s Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagun, on Wednesday officially announced the return of Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the PDP National Secretary.

This development comes amid a wave of internal wrangling and leadership disputes that have recently rocked the opposition party.

Sources within the party indicate that the announcement followed a high-level meeting between the PDP leadership and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) held on Tuesday in Abuja.

The closed-door meeting, which brought together members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), some state governors elected on the party’s platform, and INEC officials, reportedly focused on reconciling contentious issues around party structure and constitutional leadership.

Anyanwu’s reinstatement is seen as a conciliatory step to stabilize the party’s internal affairs ahead of crucial elections in some states and the broader effort to reposition the PDP as a formidable opposition force in Nigeria.

Political observers note that Anyanwu’s return may also signal a softening of earlier divisions within the party, particularly those stemming from his recent political ambitions and the controversies surrounding his initial removal from office.

With this announcement, the PDP appears to be moving toward restoring internal order and presenting a united front, especially as it navigates strategic decisions ahead of future national electoral contests.
