Olofin Takes Preemptive Measures Against Flooding in His Domain

The Olofin of Isheri, Oba Sulaiman Bamgbade, has launched a proactive initiative to mitigate the impact of the rainy season in his domain.
Citing recurrent flooding that has wreaked havoc on the community, the monarch directed weekly sanitation exercises across all estates in Isheri, a border community spanning Lagos and Ogun states.
The clean-up efforts will focus on clearing drains, desilting gutters and ensuring proper waste disposal to prevent flooding. Oba Bamgbade will personally oversee the initiative, leading weekly inspection visits to monitor environmental readiness and enforce compliance.
The monarch’s move is in response to recent flood warnings from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency.
He noted that the devastating consequences of last year’s flooding, which displaced hundreds and caused extensive damage to infrastructure, must be prevented from recurring.
Oba Bamgbade emphasized the importance of environmental stewardship and expressed confidence in the community’s ability to rise to the challenge. He called on residents to take collective responsibility for protecting their community, lives and property from preventable disasters.
By taking proactive measures, the Olofin aims to safeguard his community and ensure a safer environment for all residents.
