NANS President Atiku Abubakar Isah Arraigned Before Abuja Court

The Department of State Services (DSS) has arraigned Atiku Abubakar Isah, the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), before a Magistrate Court in Abuja. Isah appeared in court wearing black clothing, reportedly bearing signs of physical abuse.
The DSS accused Isah of inciting public disturbance and impersonating a public officer.
According to the agency, Isah allegedly incited students to breach public peace and disrupted a meeting of individuals claiming to be the elected NANS leadership.
.
The DSS also claimed that Isah falsely represented himself as NANS President.
Isah’s lawyer, Marshal Abubakar, disclosed that his client was granted bail in the sum of ₦5 million with one surety in like sum.
The case has sparked concerns about the treatment of Isah while in DSS custody.
Family sources alleged that Isah was subjected to inhumane treatment, including denial of food and essential medication. They claimed that Isah appeared unkempt, hungry, and physically weak during visits.
The DSS’s actions have been shrouded in controversy, with some sources suggesting that the agency’s directive to arrest and detain Isah came from Olusola Ladoja, a rival claimant to the NANS presidency. Ladoja allegedly wrote a formal letter to the DSS requesting Isah’s arrest.
The court has yet to deliver a verdict on the matter, but Isah’s bail has provided temporary relief to his family and supporters.
