3 Months After Edo 16 Tragedy, Families Yet to Get Promised Compensation

It’s been over three months since vigilantes in Edo State brutally killed 16 hunters from Kano State, sparking widespread outrage and calls for justice.

The victims, mistaken for kidnappers, were lynched along the Uromi-Obajana Expressway while returning from Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Despite pledges from Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State and Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State to provide financial assistance and support, the families of the victims have yet to receive any form of aid.

Survivors and relatives are struggling to cope with the aftermath, with many facing significant financial and emotional hardship.

A joint federal-state committee was established to investigate the incident, but progress remains unclear.

Families are now demanding transparency and action from the governments, expressing frustration and despair over the lack of support.

The situation has left many wondering when justice will be served and the promises made to them will be fulfilled.
