JAMB Fixes June 28 for Mop-Up UTME, 96,838 Candidates to Participate
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that no fewer than 96,838 candidates will sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exercise scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2025.
According to the examination body, the mop-up test is intended for candidates who missed the main examination or were affected by technical or biometric verification challenges.
Of the total figure, 5,096 candidates were those whose biometric verification failed or had spillover issues from previous sittings, while a staggering 91,742 candidates had failed to appear for either the main UTME or its rescheduled session.
The mop-up examination will be conducted in 183 computer-based testing centres across the country.
However, JAMB disclosed that it has delisted 113 centres due to various infractions ranging from technical malfunctions to examination malpractice. Affected candidates from these centres have been reassigned to new locations.
In the build-up to the mop-up exam, candidates have been advised to print their notification slips starting from Monday, June 23, which will provide detailed information on their examination venues and time.
As seen in the accompanying image shared on social media, hundreds of candidates are expected to fill up CBT centres across Nigeria, seated in neat rows, eyes fixed on their computer screens—ready to take another shot at securing admission into tertiary institutions.
JAMB urged all participants to arrive at their designated centres at least one hour before the scheduled start time of 8 a.m., and to adhere strictly to examination guidelines.
The Board emphasized that the mop-up exam is part of its commitment to ensuring that no qualified candidate is denied a fair opportunity to participate in the national admission process due to factors beyond their control.
