Santo, Nottingham Forest Forest Manager Renews Contract with Club

Nottingham Forest Manager, Nuno Espirito Santo has signed a new three-year contract with the club, just months after guiding them to a seventh-place finish in the Premier League and securing European qualification for the first time in over 25 years.

The 51-year-old Portuguese coach, who took over at the City Ground in December 2023, has been rewarded for his impressive work in transforming the team’s fortunes. Forest’s seventh-place finish last season marked a significant improvement from their previous two campaigns, where they battled relegation.

Nuno’s new deal is a major boost for the club, which has been on the rise since his appointment. The former Wolves and Tottenham boss has brought stability and success to the team, and his commitment to the club is a testament to the strong relationship he has built with owner Evangelos Marinakis.

“I am delighted to be able to continue our journey at this fantastic football club,” Nuno said in a statement. “Since we arrived at Forest, we have worked extremely hard to create a special bond between the players, the fans and everyone at the club, which helped us achieve great things last season.”

Nuno’s decision to stay at Forest comes despite a high-profile incident earlier in the season, where Marinakis confronted him on the pitch after a 2-2 draw against relegated Leicester.

The incident sparked controversy, with former Manchester United captain Gary Neville calling for Nuno to resign in protest. However, Nuno has put the incident behind him and has praised Marinakis for his support.

“I would like to thank our owner, Mr Marinakis, for his constant support and backing,” Nuno said. “It is important to me to share a strong relationship with our ownership and we have thoroughly enjoyed working together ever since I arrived at Forest.”

Marinakis, the Greek shipping magnate who owns Forest, has also expressed his delight at Nuno’s decision to stay.

“We enjoy a strong and solid relationship together,” he said. “Above all, we share the same dream and ambition of writing a new history for Nottingham Forest, competing in the Premier League and in Europe and winning trophies for our great club.”

With Nuno at the helm, Forest will be looking to build on their success last season and make a strong impression in the Europa Conference League. The club’s fans will be hoping that Nuno’s new contract is the start of a new era of success at the City Ground, and that the team can return to its former glory as a major force in English football.
