Killers of Kaduna Indigenes in Plateau Must Be Brought to Justice — Gov Sani
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has strongly condemned the recent killing of several indigenes of Kaduna State in Plateau communities, calling for the perpetrators to be swiftly apprehended and prosecuted.
In a statement released on Saturday, Governor Sani expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives, describing the attacks as brutal, senseless, and an assault on the shared humanity of Nigerians. He said the victims, who were mostly residents of Kauru and Lere local government areas of Kaduna State, had travelled to neighbouring Plateau State for legitimate reasons but were gruesomely murdered
The governor emphasized that such acts of violence, especially those with inter-communal and cross-border implications, threaten national unity and must not go unpunished.
“These killings are a painful reminder of the need for greater collaboration between security agencies in our border communities. The killers of our people must be brought to justice without delay. We can not allow criminal elements to continue to destroy the peace and stability we are working so hard to build,” Governor Sani said.
He also called on security agencies to intensify surveillance and intelligence-gathering in vulnerable areas to prevent further attacks, urging Plateau State authorities to work closely with Kaduna State to ensure justice is served.
Governor Sani condoled with the families of the victims and assured them that the Kaduna State Government would not rest until those responsible are apprehended. He further appealed to residents to remain calm and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
The attack, which reportedly occurred earlier this week, has heightened tensions between some communities in Kaduna and Plateau States. Both state governments have pledged to work together to forestall further violence and promote peaceful coexistence.
