Armed men kidnapped a State High Court Judge, Justice E.G. Umokoro, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, on Saturday evening. The incident occurred around 7 pm in front of a popular eatery along Chief Melford Okilo Expressway.
Eyewitnesses described the attackers as hooded gunmen wearing black uniforms who fired shots that missed the judge. They then blocked him with an unmarked white Hilux van and took him away. A video of the scene showed the judge resisting his captors before being forced into the van.
The judge was traveling in a black Toyota Prado jeep, which was left behind during the abduction. The Bayelsa State Police Command has not issued an official statement on the incident.
