SUGA Completes Military Service, BTS Set for Full-Group Comeback

Suga, a member of the global K-pop phenomenon BTS, has officially completed his mandatory military service in South Korea, marking the return of all seven members from national duty and setting the stage for one of the most highly anticipated reunions in global music.

The rapper and producer, born Min Yoongi, concluded his service as a public social worker, a role granted due to previous shoulder surgery that exempted him from active-duty enlistment. His service formally ended on June 18, with confirmation and quiet celebrations surfacing over the weekend.

Suga’s return comes nearly three years after BTS began a staggered enlistment process in compliance with South Korea’s conscription law, which mandates military service for all able-bodied men under the age of 30. The group, despite their global fame and eligibility for exemption due to cultural impact, chose to serve in full, earning praise for their commitment and patriotism.

Suga’s discharge also coincided with a public apology issued via the Weverse fan platform, addressing a 2024 drunk driving incident that resulted in a court fine. “I am deeply remorseful and have used my service time to reflect,” he wrote, pledging renewed focus and gratitude to fans.

The milestone now clears the way for BTS to return to collective activities. While BigHit Music, the group’s management agency, has yet to confirm an exact comeback date, sources suggest a new group album and global tour could be announced by early 2026.

Fans, known as ARMY, took to social media with trending hashtags like #WelcomeBackSUGA and #OT7Complete to celebrate the news. Celebrations were held across major cities, with global BTS communities organizing virtual and in-person events.

Suga, who also serves as a global ambassador for the NBA, has been welcomed back by the league’s official platforms, hinting at his possible return to public appearances and collaborations beyond music

With all members Jin, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, Jungkook, and now Suga now discharged, BTS’s full-force return is no longer a question of “if,” but “when.”
