Eight Travellers Killed in Plateau
Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau has strongly condemned the murder of eight travellers in Mangu community of Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of the state by suspected hoodlums.
The incident occurred on Friday when hoodlums attacked 31 travellers, including women and children, who were traveling from Zaria to Qua’an Pan LGA for a wedding ceremony.
During a visit to the scene of the incident on Saturday, Governor Mutfwang called for calm and described the act as “an act of criminality”.
He expressed sadness over the loss of lives and assured the people of the state that efforts are being made to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice.
The governor has also reached out to Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State and the Emir of Zazzau, briefing them on the unfortunate incident.
The attack has raised concerns about the safety of travellers in the region, and the government has urged citizens to remain calm and vigilant. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
