EFCC Arrests Governor Alia’s Aide for Alleged Sextortion, Cyber Bullying

In a shocking development, operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested Dr. Mkor Aondona, the Special Adviser to the Governor of Benue State on Documentation, Research, and Planning, for alleged sextortion and cyberbullying.
According to a statement released by the EFCC on Saturday, Dr. Aondona was taken into custody on Friday, June 20, 2025, in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, following a petition by several female students who accused him of unethical and criminal behavior.
The petitioners alleged that Dr. Aondona had been recruiting slim and attractive girls for ushering jobs, but with a twisted condition: they had to grant him sexual favors in exchange for selection.
The EFCC statement revealed that Dr. Aondona would secretly record videos of his sexual encounters with the girls without their consent, and then use these videos to blackmail them into continuing the affair.
“It was alleged that Dr. Aondona would threaten to leak the explicit videos if the girls refused to comply with his demands,” the EFCC statement said. “Some of these videos are said to be in circulation, causing immense distress and harm to the victims.”
The EFCC has confirmed that Dr. Aondona will soon be charged to court for his alleged crimes.
The arrest has sent shockwaves through the Benue State government, with many calling for the governor to take immediate action against his aide.
This development has also sparked a wider conversation about the prevalence of sextortion and cyberbullying in Nigeria, with many advocating for stronger laws and greater support for victims of these crimes.
