Russia’s Attack on Odesa Kills 1, Injures 13

Russia’s latest aerial attack on Ukraine’s southern port city of Odesa has resulted in one fatality and 13 injuries, including three rescue workers who were hurt at the scene.
The attack, which targeted residential buildings, higher education institutions, civilian infrastructure, and transport, has caused significant damage.
According to Oleg Kiper, the governor of the Black Sea region, the strike damaged several critical infrastructure facilities. Emergency services published images of firefighters helping a woman in pyjamas climb from the window of a housing block in flames.
The Ukrainian air force reported that Russia launched 86 drones in the barrage, with 70 being downed by air defense systems.
In contrast, the Russian defense ministry claimed to have eliminated at least 61 Ukrainian drones.
This attack is part of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has seen both sides intensify their drone and missile attacks.
Odesa, a UNESCO heritage site and one of Ukraine’s largest port cities, has been under persistent Russian attacks since Moscow invaded Ukraine in 2022.
The incident highlights the escalating nature of the conflict, with both sides suffering losses.
Peace talks initiated by the United States appear to be near collapse, and the situation remains volatile.
