Otti Restates Zero Tolerance for Crime in Abia, Assures of Security

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has reiterated his administration’s strong stance on security, declaring that his government maintains a zero-tolerance policy for crime and criminal elements in the state.

Speaking during a security stakeholders’ engagement held in Umuahia, the governor emphasized that the safety of lives and property remains a top priority of his administration.

He noted that no meaningful development can take place without a secure environment.

“Our administration takes security very seriously,” Governor Otti said. “We have zero tolerance for crimes, and we are doing everything within our power to ensure that Abia becomes a haven for law-abiding citizens and investors.”

He disclosed that the state government has already begun implementing measures aimed at strengthening security across all local government areas. These include the provision of operational vehicles and modern equipment to security agencies to enable rapid response to incidents.

Governor Otti also noted that his administration is working closely with federal security agencies and traditional institutions to improve intelligence gathering and community-based policing.

He warned that anyone found aiding or harbouring criminals would be dealt with in accordance with the law.

To demonstrate the administration’s resolve, the governor referenced the recent demolition of a building in Osisioma Local Government Area which served as a kidnap den, following the rescue of four victims by the police.

“This is a clear warning to criminal elements that we will not only pursue them but also destroy any infrastructure used to support their evil acts,” he stated.

Governor Otti further revealed plans to establish a state-of-the-art command and control centre in Umuahia to enhance surveillance and coordination among security agencies.

He said the centre would be equipped with modern tracking systems and emergency response capabilities.

He called on residents to support the government’s efforts by remaining law-abiding and reporting suspicious activities to security agencies.

“Our people must understand that security is everyone’s responsibility. We urge our communities to cooperate fully with law enforcement and resist the temptation to protect wrongdoers,” he said.

The governor assured that his administration will continue to invest in security infrastructure and personnel, adding that the objective is to make Abia one of the safest states in Nigeria.
