13 Platforms Purchased, 13,500 Terrorists Eliminated Under Tinubu

The Federal Government has announced significant progress in its efforts to tackle the nation’s security challenges, with over 35 aircraft procured and at least 13,500 terrorists eliminated since President Bola Tinubu’s administration took office.

According to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the government has made unprecedented investments in security, including the procurement of over 35 helicopters and airplanes, four naval vessels, and large quantities of ammunition to fight criminal elements.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today program on Wednesday, Idris revealed that the latest statistics show that over 13,500 criminal elements have been eliminated, with their leaders targeted and taken out.

Additionally, around 120,000 terrorists have surrendered, and 17,000 people have been reunited with their families.

The minister attributed the successes to President Tinubu’s swift and committed response to the security crisis, saying that the president is fully aware of the security realities in the country and is resolute in addressing them.

“President Tinubu is not the kind of president who does not see what happens around him. He sees, he knows, and discusses with all of us – his ministers and key advisers,” Idris said. “He knows what he is doing, and I can assure you that President Bola Tinubu is going to fix this.”

Idris also highlighted the complexity of the crisis, noting that fighting insecurity must be holistic and require cooperation with neighboring countries, including Niger, Chad, and Cameroon.

The minister’s comments come in the wake of renewed killings in Benue State, where over 59 persons were killed in the Yelwata attacks. Idris described President Tinubu’s recent visit to Benue as “unprecedented,” saying that the president’s actions demonstrate his deep concern for the security situation in the country.

“The President didn’t just visit. He went to the hospital, spoke to the injured, and held a town hall meeting. That tells you how deeply he feels about this,” Idris said.

The government’s claims of progress in the war against terror have been welcomed by many, but others have expressed skepticism, citing the ongoing security challenges in the country. Nevertheless, the minister’s comments suggest that the government is committed to addressing the security crisis and is making significant efforts to do so.

As the security situation in Nigeria continues to evolve, one thing is clear: the government’s response to the crisis will be closely watched by Nigerians and the international community. With the stakes high, President Tinubu’s administration will be under pressure to deliver on its promises and ensure the safety and security of all Nigerians.
