Tinubu Arrives in Benue State to Commiserate with State on Yelewata Massacre

In a show of solidarity and concern, President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Benue State to visit the surviving victims of last Friday’s brutal attack in Yelewata community, which left over 59 people dead and several others injured.

The President’s visit, which took place on Wednesday, began with a stop at the hospital where he met with the injured victims of the attack.

This was followed by a meeting with major stakeholders in the state at the new Banquet Hall of the Benue State Government House.

The meeting is part of a broader effort to find a lasting solution to the crisis that has affected parts of the state, especially rural communities.

The President is expected to meet with families of victims, displaced and injured persons, and community leaders directly impacted by the violence.

In attendance at the meeting are key national and state-level figures, including Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia; governors from across the country, particularly from the North-Central states; the National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu; and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume.

Also expected to attend are service chiefs, key members of the National Assembly, leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and other prominent individuals, especially those representing affected communities in Benue.

In a gesture of respect and solidarity, the state government declared a public holiday for the President’s visit.

The move is seen as a demonstration of the state’s commitment to finding a lasting solution to the crisis and to supporting the victims and their families.

The attack on Yelewata community has sparked widespread outrage and concern, with many calling for greater action to be taken to address the root causes of the violence.

The President’s visit is seen as a crucial step towards finding a solution and providing support to those affected.

As the meeting with stakeholders continues, it is expected that concrete steps will be taken to address the crisis and to prevent similar attacks from occurring in the future.

The people of Benue State and indeed the entire nation will be watching with keen interest as the situation unfolds.
